Join us for a hands-on field and computer workshop that addresses 1) water bodies in nutrient management planning, and 2) University of Maryland Phosphorus Management Tool (UM-PMT) calculations. This event is free and includes lunch. Earns 6 CEUs for full participation.

​​​This course will provide an update on nutrient management regulations along with information on current topics affecting the agricultural community. Register by February 10, 2023. Provides 4​ CEUs for participation.

Maryland Nutrient Manage​ment Certification Exam​​
The Maryland Nutrient Management Certification Exam will be offered Tuesday, February 7th  in Annapolis. Individuals who provide nutrient recommendations, professionals who provide technical assistance or are engaged in the development of waste management systems, nursery personnel, and farmers interested in developing nutrient management plans for other farmers are encouraged to take the exam.

Do you want to become certified to write nutrient management plans for nurseries, greenhouses, or controlled environments that you manage? Sign up for our Farmer Certification and Training (FTC) class  on February 23, 2023. Register before February 17th, 2023 by emailing Dr. Andrew Ristvey (aristvey@umd.edu).

Maryland Crop Production Meetings
Virtual and in person meetings at locations statewide. 
Topics include Agronomy, Fruit and Vegetable Production, and Row Crop and Forage Production among others. 
These meetings are for farmers and consultants who want the latest research and data to make informed 2023 growing decisions for agricultural crops. Attendance is free.
Qualifies for nutrient management voucher training and continuing education credits. Pesticide applicator and certified crop advisor credits are also offered.​

​Online Farmer Training and Certification for Agronomic Crop and Animal Operations​
The Farmer Training and Certification Online Workshop provides an opportunity for producers with cropland and pastures who use commercial fertilizer and/or manure to learn how to write nutrient management plans (NMPs) for their operation that meet MDA requirements. The online nature of this course ​requires individual learning within an online learning platform. Nutrient Management Voucher Training​
If you apply nutrients to 10 or more acres of cropland, you are required to attend a free two-hour training once every three years. Several training options are available to farmers this season. These include online or in-person training, self-paced online training, and small, in person training sessions around the state. Please click the link above to register for the session that works best for you. Remember, if you are certified to write your own nutrient management plan, you are exempt from this training, however, you must take six hours of continuing education credits every three years.

Learn and Earn CEUs Online​
The University of Maryland and other institutions provide excellent nutrient management webinars. Even if you cannot attend a session "live," you might be able to earn CEUs at a later date.

These webinars are open to Professional Fertilizer Applicators  (PFAs). Trained Employees are welcome to attend, however, they do not need and will not receive CEUs.
These two webinars are different. Each 2-hour webinar is worth 2 CEUs toward renewal of PFA certificates. Please note that credits in excess of 6 will not carry over into 2024
