Maryland Farmers Markets

Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP)   The Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is a USDA-funded nutrition grant program administered by MDA in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) and the Maryland Department of Aging (MDAg). State agencies utilize funds to support participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and low-resource seniors who participate in the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program. Participants in both programs receive an annual benefit of either $30 for WIC recipients or $35 for Senior participants to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at farmers' markets between June 1 and November 30th
For farmers interested in participating in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program, or need to renew their authorization, reach out to Sara Servin to schedule a virtual training, [email protected]
For older adults looking to apply for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, the 2026 application will open on June 1st at mda.maryland.gov. If you need additional support with the application, please reach out to your county's Senior Nutrition Program contact here to learn how they are supporting SFMNP in your county.
Beginning in June, WIC participants can opt to sign up during their clinic appointments, and eligible seniors can apply online or connect with their local Area Agency on Aging for support.
In Maryland, all of the 100+ authorized farmers markets throughout the State have at least one farmer who accepts FMNP.  Nearly 200 farmers are authorized to sell in farmers markets or at their farm stand. See the directory below to find a farmers market near you!
